From the Assange Campaign Australia:
Over the last few months, our focus has intensified on the US. This morning, that shift has had a huge breakthrough with 15 US congress members and one senator writing to Joe Biden and lobbying him to drop extradition attempts against Julian.
This is enormous. In America’s fragmented political landscape, this letter brings together everyone from republican and fierce Trump supporter Marjorie Taylor Greene, libertarian senator Rand Paul, as well as leftwing Democratic firebrand Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and chair of the Democratic progressive caucus Pramila Jayapal. This sort of bi-partisan unity is rare in American politics – let alone from such diverse and powerful voices. It will make a real impression in the White House.
It’s no coincidence that this letter comes barely weeks after the bipartisan delegation of Australian politicians visited Washington and lobbied on Julian’s behalf — a trip that you, our movement, funded. Your support is making a direct and meaningful difference, and its support like this that keeps Julian fighting.
Will you share the letter to Caroline Kennedy and ask three new people to sign it? You can send them this link: https://www.action.assangecampaign.org.au/, Share it to Facebook, and share it to Twitter.
Over the coming months, we have a simple strategy. We must continue to support Australian leaders who are willing to demand the US release Julian, and we must continue to put President Biden under pressure to act — at home, and abroad through his ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy.
If we work together and sustain these two goals — we know we make progress. The progress we have made in the last 6 months is a testament to the power of our growing, passionate movement made up of people just like you.
