PEACE in TAIWAN: A Conversation on the Current Situation of Taiwan

May 22 @ 10:30 pm - 11:30 pm
Free

Taiwan faces a critical resilience gap, having limited stockpiles of essential medicines and medical resources, a need for hardened communications systems, weakened information integrity with media organizations lacking resources for fact-checking; all this as tensions in the Taiwan Strait remain high and unstable. A recent meeting between Taiwan’s opposition leader, Cheng Li-wun, and China’s President Xi Jinping in Beijing drew criticism from the ruling party as Taiwan continues its assertion of independence. And the recently concluded Balikatan military exercises between the U.S., the Philippines, and Japan took place near the South China Sea and Taiwan.

There is a need to amplify calls for neutrality as militarization in the region continues and rivalry between the U.S. and China persists.

Everyone is invited to join this discussion on the peace situation in Taiwan and explore how it is being addressed, as well as how we can all contribute to peace-building across the region.
