Free David McBride Event

May 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free

Two years ago, David McBride was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison for telling the truth about alleged war crimes by Australian special forces in Afghanistan.

The soldiers whose conduct he exposed are still free. David is not.

He is the only person to have gone to prison over the Afghan Files. Not the soldiers. Not the commanders. The whistleblower.

On the second anniversary of his sentencing – Thursday 14th May, 6:00-7:00pm (AEST) – The Information Rights Project and the Whistleblower Justice Fund are coming together to mark the moment and call for David’s freedom.

You will hear from:

  • Gabriel Shipton, Founder, The Information Rights Project
  • Rex Patrick, Whistleblower Justice Fund and former Senator
  • Eddie Lloyd, David McBride’s lawyer

What we will cover:

  • Where David is now, and what two years inside has meant for him and his family
  • Why Australia’s whistleblower protection laws failed him, and how they are still failing others
  • How supporters can take action
Free to attend. Registration essential.
