Australia’s Future Human Rights Landscape What Lies Ahead

The Parliamentary Joint Committee for Human Rights has recently handed down its report regarding the Inquiry into Australia’s Human Rights Framework.

As someone deeply interested in the Inquiry into Australia’s Human Rights Framework and committed to improving human rights in our country, we are pleased to invite you to the Amnesty ACT/SNSW Human Rights Town Hall, an important event dedicated to discussing the future of human rights in Australia.

Emeritus Professor Rosalind Croucher AM, the President of the Australian Human Rights Commission will be speaking at this function about the potential a Human Rights Act has for Australia.

Unlike many nations, Australia lacks a clear legal framework or founding document that explicitly defines our human rights. Establishing clarity on what constitutes human rights for all Australians is vital for ensuring they are respected and protected.

Human rights are foundational to the prosperity and dignity of any society. As Australia navigates an increasingly complex global landscape, it is imperative that we prioritise and safeguard the rights and dignity of all individuals. Respect for human rights transcends backgrounds, identities, and statuses, and it is essential for maintaining a just and stable society.

You will have an opportunity to ask questions and have your say regarding the role human rights should play in Australian society as well as how human rights should be governed and protected.

The discussion will take place at the Copland Theatre of the Australian National University, with doors opening at 6:30pm for a 7pm start.

To collect your free ticket, simply follow this link or use the QR code embedded in the marketing graphic displayed at the top of this email ! More information is also available on the Australian National University’s event page.

You don’t want to miss this rare opportunity to hear from one of Australia’s most esteemed experts on human rights law.

We look forward to seeing you at this pivotal discussion regarding the future of human rights for Australia
