
First Nations Webinar with Murrumu Walabura Yidinji

FreeThe First Nations Peoples Concerns Committee of Quakers Australia, and the Committee on Racial Equality (ACT) invite you to join a Webinar with Murrumu
Walabura Yidinji. The webinar will be held on
Saturday 13 August from 3.00pm – 4.30pm Aust Eastern Standard Time.
In 2014 former Canberra press gallery journalist Jeremy Geia announced that he was officially quitting the country called Australia to live under the tribal law of his Yidinji people in north Queensland. When he did this, he surrendered the documents that accompany Australian citizenship – a bank account, drivers’ licence, medicare card, superannuation and his passport, and he reverted to his tribal name Murrumu Walabura Yidinji.
Together with Yidinji elders Murrumu set up the Sovereign Yidinji Government. Murrumu will talk about the achievements of the Yidinji Government including diplomatic contacts with foreign countries although it has not been officially recognised by the Australian Government.

Murrumu’s presentation will take approximately one hour. After the presentation there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
