Friends’ Friday: Being Good Ancestors to Future Generations
March 21 @ 6:45 pm - 8:30 pm
Free
Everyone is invited to attend this Friends’ Friday, initially from 6pm to 6.45 for a meal. Please bring food to share.
From 7pm the presentation and discussion will be focused on a book by Roman Krznaric called The Good Ancestor. Christine Larkin will present core material on this book that she has been inspired by reading recently. (You don’t need to have read the book beforehand.)
We all understand that we have moved into a new era of climate upheaval, disruption, and degradation of the earth at many levels, including for the inhabiting species. A focus of this book, and our session, will be on how people of the future are being discounted by these present forces – Discounting is an iconic expression of the colonisation of the future, treating it virtually as empty of inhabitants (Krznaric p75).
Primarily, Chris wants to share with those present many of the practical, creative, and transformative initiatives that are being carried out around the world, so that those present can be better informed, and feel encouraged, and inspired.
