Elders Yarning at Aboriginal Tent Embassy
February 25 - February 26
FreeSat 25 Feb or Sun 26 Feb: Elders yarning at Aboriginal Tent Embassy:
To the members of Canberra climate groups, and associated groups and organisations of good people, caring for life and the Earth in the face of such injury and human-driven collapse:
Arabunna Elder Kevin Buzzacott, from Lake Eyre country, has arrived in Canberra, and is resting quietly for a while. We haven’t seen him here since pre-COVID, and he is now very fragile.
He still carries his great purpose, and wishes to speak to us. He’s not quite ready yet, a bit unwell, needs this rest. Some other Elders may also arrive before long, but we also have the finest Old Person here right now.
Kevin has long heard the distressed voice of the Old Country, which is rising to call out now in despair. He wishes to talk about the abuse of our old Earth and old Country, and her people and creatures. This is our failure by humanity – this ‘wrong way’ that people have chosen to take. He offers no technical fixes – more about transforming our human spirit, knowledge and loving relationship to life and country; as taught to us, through him, by the Old People.
He will soon issue a quiet ‘call-out’ to concerned people, to come in to the Aboriginal Tent Embassy to gather at the Fire for a yarn, to talk about the perpetual Sacred Fire, and the sufferings of damaged life, and the way through. (Probably next weekend Feb. 25 or 26.)
And to think and help each other plan together, towards a much greater ceremonial gathering-camp later in the year, for teaching and learning and arts and spreading ‘good way’ and healing – of each other, and of our Old Country, and the Mother Earth who gives life and provision to us all.
