Demonstration on Behalf of Julian Assange – US Embassy Canberra

January 31 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

“We’ll be outside the US embassy again tomorrow, Tues 31 January, from 12.30 – 1.30pm calling on Ambassador Kennedy to intercede for Assange. If you haven’t signed the petition to her yet asking her to speak up on Assange’s behalf, here is the link.

The Belmarsh Tribunal on Julian Assange’s incarceration was held in Washington on Jan 20. It featured expert testimony from eminent people, including Amy Goodman, Srećko Horvat, Daniel Ellsberg, and Noam Chomsky. Members of the Tribunal gave evidence of the attack on truthtellers and the need to seek justice for the crimes they expose.

They also called on Biden to end the extradition of Assange and highlighted the dangers of criminalizing free speech in America and around the world. It’s quite long, so you might want to watch it in a few sessions, but this is very important for keeping up pressure for Julian’s freedom and also for press freedom globally.”

“Commonwealth Bank whistleblower Jeff Moris has been honoured with a medal of the order of Australia in this year’s Australia Day Honours list for a stellar career in whistleblowing.

Jeff began his whistleblowing career at the CBA in 2008, before stepping up the pressure on ASIC in 2013, which is when he first came to our notice on the ABC’s 7.30 Report. He later appeared before a Senate Inquiry, in the Four Corners program ‘Banking Bad’, as a witness before the Hayne Inquiry into misconduct in banking and financial institutions and throughout, he’s worked tirelessly to help the bank’s victims and other whistleblowers.

Go to https://www.jeffmorris.com.au/ for the story of the man who blew the whistle on the CBA.”
