Commemorating 75 Years of Nakba

75 years of longing, 75 years of resistance, and 75 years of Palestinian Identity.

This month, Free Palestine Melbourne, in collaboration with various pro-Palestinian organisations, will also be holding a protest in Melbourne to commemorate 75 years of the Palestinian Nakba. This event will feature a number of speakers who will share their Nakba stories. Following this, we will march down the streets of the CBD in solidarity with Palestine whilst making political demands on our complicit government. You can read about the Nakba in this factsheet produced by APAN.

Between 1947 and 1949, at least 750,000 Palestinians from a 1.9 million population of our people were made refugees. Zionist forces had taken more than 78 percent of historic Palestine, ethnically cleansed and destroyed about 530 villages and cities, and killed about 15,000 Palestinians in a series of mass atrocities, including more than 70 massacres.
