Climate, Covid, Conflict: Gender Transformative Responses to Disasters
Saturday, 4 February 2023 via Zoom (free, please register)
Extreme weather events can be devastating, but what happens when they come at a time of pandemic, or conflict, or dislocation? How can gender approaches improve community resilience? The next gathering of the Climate Action Network will take in some real life case studies across our Section, and discover more about the role of gender in responding to disasters with resilience.
Our Climate Action Network Speaker for February will be Friend Jane Sloane, who leads The Asia Foundation’s programs to empower women and promote gender equality. Jane has over thirty years’ experience working in international development and over fifteen years of experience in leadership roles focused on advancing women’s rights and promoting gender equality around the world.
Format Our Climate Action Network gatherings last about 90 minutes and we build in opportunities to meet others from across the Section, hear from our speaker for about half an hour, gather in silence and offer worship sharing, as well as hear of climate-related events or campaigns that may be happening in each of our lives.
