Climate Change Conversation Cafe – Special Event!

November 3 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Conversation Cafe – special evening date! Friday 3 November, 6.00pm

Friends who attend the fortnightly Meeting House Friday lunchtime Conversation Cafe invite all Friends to a special Friends Friday meeting.  A shared meal at 6.00pm is proposed, followed by discussion and action on some of the recent topics that we have discussed at our regular cafe. These include:

1) Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC) request to churches that we encourage sending letters to Tanya Plibersek (Minister for the Environment) re coal and gas extraction and its climate and biodiversity impacts. We need as many letters as possible to reach the Minister by 1 December.

2) Quakers Australia Climate Change and Biodiversity Extinction Working Group have circulated a discussion draft of the proposed “ACTION PLAN – FOR OUR HOME –  Australian Quakers respond to climate emergency & species extinction”. The plan will come to Yearly Meeting next July for adoption, and is open now for input from Friends.

3) Canberra Quakers: how are we responding to the climate emergency? What experience and ideas can we share?

For further information contact Lorraine Thompson, Mardi Naulty or David Shorthouse. The latter can also can supply the Action Plan in return for an email requesting it.
