Can War Be Avoided Or Will Our Peace Be Shattered? Public Event

You are invited to this public event in Sydney commemorating the 20 year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.

Three important reports by the federal parliament will be published in the next few weeks:

• the direction of the AUKUS agreement
• Dept of Defense procurement review by Angus Houston and Stephen Smith
• “War Powers” review: who decides if or how Australia commits to involvement in overseas wars. (Penny Wong stated last week that no changes are needed, meaning that the PM and a small group of Cabinet members, of their choosing, can make this decision. No parliamentary oversight.)

These reports will be commented on at the event at the Marrickville Town Hall on 19 March.
