Australia… The Week After – A Hybrid Event

October 22 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

Conversation at the Crossroads is delighted to invite you to its Annual General Meeting and Inaugural Annual Lecture on Sunday 22nd October 2.00 pm-5.00 pm.

Afternoon tea will be served immediately after the AGM. Prof Joseph Camilleri will then deliver the Inaugural Lecture. which he has titled Australia. . . the week after. It will be followed by a spirited Q&A session and lively conversation.

Location: University College, University of Melbourne, College Crescent, Parkville. Anyone living outside Melbourne can attend the event online. Link will be provided after registration.

Why “the week after”?

Because the Voice referendum on 14 October is a watershed moment for Australia. It will help define how we see ourselves, and how others see us.
Camilleri will review the journey we have travelled as a settler society and ask the questions all too often swept under the carpet.

A week after the referendum. . .

– How well placed are we to repair the fraught relationship with our First Nations?

– Are we ready to embrace an Australia that is multicultural in outlook and practice?

– What of our future relations with the peoples of Asia and the Pacific?

– Can we loosen the ties that bind us to Western centres of power and influence?

We greatly look forward to welcoming you and friends on Sunday 22nd October.
