IPAN National Conference: Sleepwalking into War?

4 – 6 October: Sleepwalking into War?  Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) National Conference in Perth

Theme: “Opposing AUKUS, nuclear submarines and nuclear waste. Campaigning for a just, peaceful and sustainable world”

Both in person and via Zoom.

The conference will be held in person at Perth, and will be accessible online by zoom as well.  See online registration details on the event website.

The conference will host a range of expert Australian and international speakers.

There will also be

ample time to network amongst all attendees and to discuss amongst ourselves how to broaden and deepen the movement across Australia.

Themes for the conference presentations and discussions include:

  • AUKUS – alternatives to $368 billion, dangers of nuclear waste, implications for Australian security
  • Lessons from Gaza
  • Developing regional peace initiatives in the Asia – Pacific region
  • Impacts of war on the environment and on Indigenous People’s rights
  • Countering threats of nuclear war
  • Campaigning for more independent and genuine defence policy for Australia
  • Building a broader and active movement for independence, justice, peace and a sustainable environment.
