QUNO Pathways For Peace – A Commemoration & Update

QUNO Pathways For Peace – More Effective International Architecture for Prevention of Armed Conflict

Co-Hosted by Quakers United Nations Office

QUNO NY co-hosted an event alongside the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict and the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation to mark the fifth anniversary of the flagship report ‘Pathways for Peace: Inclusive Approaches to Preventing Violent Conflict’ by the United Nations and World Bank Group. The anniversary provided opportunities for Member States, the UN and civil society to take stock and reflect on recommendations made in the report and how to apply these in an evolved geopolitical landscape. Specifically, the anniversary presents an opportunity to highlight some recommendations for the next steps in strengthening the international architecture for prevention, with an emphasis on the development of data and evidence to inform more effective prevention programing. The key aspiration is that the Pathways report needs to continue to be updated and its power be re-invigorated through creative “policy entrepreneurship”.
